know what i miss most about school? very defined timetables. you know exactly when a quarter/semester starts and when it ends. you are given precise deadlines and you know that once you dropped off your last paper or scribble down your answer to the last final exam question, it's done! there's so much beauty in that kind of finality and rigid clarity. so after putting it off for months and months, i finally made myself take a vacation... and a much needed one at that. as i learned, there's never a good time to take vacation. deadlines and piles of work will always get in the way. so just set a date and stick to it. i am glad i did this time around!

1. receiving snail mail
2. a perfect cup of coffee or latte
3. laughing over inside jokes
4. coming across a simple phrase that captures the moment or situation or thought so perfectly
5. finding something you've lost
6. hot shower after a long day
7. catching a glimpse of a rainbow or sunset when you least expect it
8. listening to my parents retell a funny childhood story
9. kind words
10. being understood

Is the PERFECT coffee a SIMPLE pleasure? hmmm....who need the generic stuff? I'd take my office's espresso machine back to the states if I could (it dispenses 16 different kinds of coffee/espresso/cocoa/mocha latte drinks). You always take a picture of Dan when he's eating...haha.
